Eating out is my favorite hobby and I usually don’t mind eating a street food without thinking about it’s hygiene factor. But recently I went through major food poisoning which disrupted my schedule for several days and I can feel that my body is heavily damaged and weak.
We usually fall sick due to stomach problems or upset stomach. No one wants to eat unsafe or unhygenic food but we accidently eat unsafe food that makes the stomach upset and we fall sick with vomiting and diarrhea. In some cases people suffer from serious complications like kidney failure, heart complications, arthritis or even death.
How We Get Food Poisoning?
Food poisoning doesn’t occur via home made food as we always take care of cleanliness and hygiene of the food. But it can occur when we eat out in food service establishments, restaurants, caterers or food outlets in other establishments in hospitals, corporate offices or malls. When food is cooked in bulk and kept for a long time, then hygiene is compromised. In most cases food poisoning is caused because of a disease causing micro-organisms called pathogens. The contributing factors for pathogens to make people sick are the presence of pathogens in the food is stored for a long time at 4 degrees Celsius to 60 degrees Celsius. This is the ideal temperature for pathogens to grow and make the food bad enough to make people sick.
Is Food Poisoning Caused by Certain Food Only?
Mostly yes, Pathogens will require a protein rich source to grow and multiply. In such cases protein rich food like eggs, meat, dairy products are more likely to catch food poisoning. However low protein cooked food stored at normal temperature for a long time are also likely to catch food poisoning.
