Heat wave is constant rise in temperature that sustains for longer period of time without any drop even in night time. If you have Heat Stress and that is not treated or paid attention to, then it may convert in Heat Exhaustion. In Heat Exhaustion your body will lose large amount water in the process of perspiration and it leads to dehydration. Dehydration is bit severe and it will impact a person’s ability to being physically active, think, act or behave normally. Body loses large amount of salt through the process of perspiration that will effect smoother functioning of body muscles while drop in body water have multiplied impact on body’s capability to work.   • He can’t walk normally
  • He will feel extremely tired
  • Person will have feeling of Sickness
  • He will have abnormal heartbeats

Same as Heat Stress, in Heat Exhaustion condition, people should take shelter and keep their body cool. Drink plenty of water and take some rest. As a precautionary measure people should drink more water than usual in such climatic conditions. This will keep dehydration away from your body.

Heat Stroke

Untreated Heat Exhaustion can lead to Heat Stroke. It’s most severe medical condition under hot weather. In case of Heat Stroke, your body will not be able to control it’s temperature, it will lose very large amount of water and body temperature will keep increasing and perspiration process will break down. Perspiration process stops when your body temperature goes beyond 40 degrees, in such condition your skin becomes dry and hot and it may lead to unconsciousness and you may not know what’s happening around.

As per doctors, if body temperature goes beyond 40 degrees, it will start making permanent damage to your body organs and tissues. This may result in permanent brain damage or death of a person. If a person is under Heat Stroke, he should be provided immediate medical attention otherwise it could be life threatening medical condition.

In any of the above circumstances, water is very important for your body and sudden lose of water may lead to any of above health complications. A human body contains 50 to 55 percent of water, water in blood is responsible for transmission of blood cells and antibodies,  water is required throwing out impurities of your body via passing urine. Water is required for perspiration process to cool down the body in hot climate or when you are physically active in exercising or in any other activity.

In many parts of the world, extremely hot weather is very common. You may think, so what, people will feel hot in such weather, but surprisingly hot weather can cause many medical problems and in many cases it can cause death. Hot weather is as deadly as any other natural calamities. As per experts, extremely hot weather becomes heat wave when it sustains for longer period of this. The condition becomes more severe and dangerous when night time temperature doesn’t drop much from highest temperature in day time. Such climate makes great damages to human body and in many cases it will invite other diseases and sometimes death too.

Cover Yourself

Sounds easy and silly! But covering up yourself is the best way to protect your body from heat. Firstly you should wear clothes that cover your maximum body when you go out in sun. Extreme sun ray dry out your skin, dehydrate your skin and your body and damage overall functioning of your body. Hence wear hat or cap to protect your head, sunglasses to protect your eyes, wear full sleeve shirts or tops, shoes to cover your legs, block each and every entry point for heat to enter in your body.

Keep Living Area Covered and Protected

This may cause more problem of one or more walls of your house and terrace is sun facing, it will be heated up and make your house hot. You can use paints especially made to combat hot weather that keeps your house cool compared to external environment. Block every entry point for sun rays, keep your windows shielded, keep the doors closed from which sunlight may come to your home. Keep all windows and doors closed before your leave home in morning. Use dark colored curtains to keep your house cool.

Air Conditioning

Check air conditioning is equally important. Before summer starts, you should get your air conditioners properly serviced. That will take care of any air leaks in the air conditioner pipes or air conditioner fittings. Air conditioner filters should be properly cleaned and all dust and dirt should be removed for optimum cooling and power saving during summers. Also ask service man to check gas level in air conditioner, sometime you may need to refill the gas and get your compressor serviced. Apart from air conditioners, make sure your fans are working well and air coolers are serviced and cleaned properly for immediate use.

Cool Water

In extreme sunny days your body will need more water than usual days. So make sure your refrigerator has enough amount of water bottles stocked. Make sure your water bottles are hygienically cleaned before actual usage. Keep cool water available anytime for you or your family members. Not drinking enough water in heat wave will make more damage to your body and invite many heat related complications.

Eating Habits

It’s natural that in summers, especially in heat wave your body will need more water and cool juicy foods. So stock up your home and office areas with juicy fruits like organs, apples, grapes, watermelons and coconuts, keep your refrigerators stocked with natural fruit juices. Avoid taking heavy meals in summer as your body’s digesting capabilities will be lower in this time. So eat which is easy to digest and provide maximum fluids to your body. If you are travelling, then make sure you are eating juicy fruits or taking fruit juice and also make sure you are drinking cool water very frequently.

Educate Yourself

You should make yourself aware about any fatal damages of heat wave and if you find any such sign in yourself then immediately consult your doctor. It’s hard to have expert knowledge on heat related issues but there are common health complications like fatigue, sickness, fainting, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, muscular pain, abnormal rise in body temperature, extreme sweating, abnormal heartbeats etc are signs caused by heat wave.
