Human skin is the only part of the body that interfaces with the environment and owns verity of functions like insulation, body temperature regulation, sensation, water regulation, intake and outflow of various elements and apart from these biological functions most importantly it’s the only visible part of the body which is important part of your personality. Hence skin care is very crucial for your health and overall personality.
Lets keep biological facts aside for a while and talk about external factors and to start with various types of skin. Below are the basic skin types and you will find yours too here. Why skin types? Because without knowing your skin type you will never be able to take proper care of your skin. So to take care of your skin you must know your skin first.
Normal Skin
This is ideal skin type. This skin type is not dry, oily or sensitive, this skin does not shine, it’s smooth and supple, texture of this skin is even. This skin will require minimum amount of care and efforts.
Oily Skin
This skin will appear shiny, pores of this skin will remain open, due to oily nature it will attract dust and polluting elements hence creates problems like acne and blackheads.
Dry Skin
This skin will feel dry and flaky and tight when wiped. Due to low moisture level this skin will appear dull and lifeless. This skin is thin and sensitive in nature.
Combination Skin
In this skin type, T Zone (forehead, nose and chick) of your face is oily and remaining part (chin) is dry. This skin type will have both dry and oily areas. Due to this complex nature of the skin, care of such skin is also bit tough as one has to take care of oily and dry areas of the skin.
Sensitive Skin
This skin is very dry and feels tight, it will inflamed and irritated easily. This will be allergic skin and many cosmetic items will not suit to this skin, if exposed skin will react and appear reddish and will feel itchy. This skin will get rough and red easily. This is most difficult skin to take care of.
So how do we know our skin type? Any dermatologist will tell your skin type after basic examinations, but at home you can know your skin type by this basic and very simple test.
After you wake up in morning, don’t wash your face and take a tissue paper, put it on your face and press evenly all over your face. Keep it there for sometime and take it off, and see the tissue paper.
If tissue paper appear completely oily, then you have got oily skin, if only T zone is oily then you have combination skin, and if nothing happens, then your skin could be either normal, dry or sensitive. Now wipe your face with tissue paper and see, if nothing happens and the elasticity of your skin is normal then your have normal skin, if you feel your skin tight then it’s dry skin.
So this was about skin various skin types and knowing about your individual skin type. Skin type may vary person to person so on must know their skin type and take proper care of their skin to make it look younger and healthy.
