This week of 7th May, 2013 is Teacher Appreciation Week and 7th May is National Teacher Day. This is the time to give back to the Teachers who are constantly making efforts to form a good society and future of the nation. This week aka Teacher Appreciation Week is kind of appreciation token for Teachers so that they make sure every student gets a high quality education.
Many communities, clubs and groups are taking their time out to honor their teachers by organizing events, seminars or functions for and around teachers role for the society. This is being done by lots of promotions, contests, workshops and multiple conversations in different forums.
A good teacher can be identified by their students very easily. Their teaching techniques, attitude towards their students and ability to satisfy children’s curiosity is unique. I too remember some of the teachers who made a significant contribution to my personality and development of what I am today. I wish I could meet them and thank them personally on this precious occasion.
Teachers’ lives are not easy, they have to manage all the problems and constraints they are living with and yet provide high quality education to their students. They have to manage with limited budget for their facilities like staff room, closets, books and education materials, stationary, reference material and other supporting instruments to make a good teacher. But still they don’t make any difference to the teaching and quality of education for their students.
The most difficult part is some wrong mindset of students who indulge in shooting their classmates, teachers or other citizens, or some students who involves in any of the criminal activities. Such students make teachers’ lives very tough and challenging. The whole reputation and credibility of teachers and schools put at the stake in case of any such unpleasant event.
Teachers are builders of good society, progressing nation and successful persons in true sense. Each on of us should be thankful to our teachers for whatever we are today and feel sorry to them for whatever we are not today. In-spite of teaching best to their caliber and making very successful businessmen, politicians, actors, professionals and entrepreneurs they get nothing in return, so today and this week at least they deserve some appreciation.
Let’s agree to this thought and send a thank you card, a thank you email, message to our teachers. If possible, visit your school or college and thank your teachers and make their day special. If you are students, you have several options like conducting a role play, a seminar, workshop on teachers and their importance for society.
On this Teacher Appreciation Week I am going to my high school to personally thank all my teachers who have contributed to my development and success. Let’s make some difference for our teachers and for society on this Teacher Appreciation Week and National Teacher Day.
