What is BMR?

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is a rate at which your body burns calories (energy) while you are at rest but the vital functions of your body is running.

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) – ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) – ( 6.8 x age in year )
Metric BMR Formula
Women: BMR = 655 + ( 9.6 x weight in kilos ) + ( 1.8 x height in cm ) – ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 13.7 x weight in kilos ) + ( 5 x height in cm ) – ( 6.8 x age in years )

How to use BMR for Weight Loss?

My husband calculated his BMR, it came out as 1585 in resting conditions. And 2350 in slightly active conditions. So the second one was more accurate as in his desk job he’s living slightly active lifestyle. That means he will need to consume 2350 calories in a day to meet his body needs. That also means

1. Calories consumed above 2350 will not be required and accumulate fat in the body

2. Calories consumed below 2350 will cause the consumption of body fat to run body functions, which will directly result in weight loss.

The Final Verdict

Personal experiences and expert advice says that exercise and workouts will make you fit and strong, will increase your stamina but those are not tools for weight loss. The only and most effective tool for weight loss is consuming less calories in a day than your body really needs. This will force your body to burn excess fat and you will observe the results in a few weeks like we did.

I knew that drinking a lots of water is beneficial for health but i never knew that drinking water in certain way, at certain time and in certain quantity is a greatest secret for Weight Loss. Water is one of the most effective way to lose weight natural way without much dieting or hard exercise. This deliberately replaces other calorie laden drinks with water. Instead of drinking cold coffee, tea, canned juice, or other drinks which are full of calories and sugar, water is the best alternative of them all. So the third rule is to replace all other drinks with water.

If you are doing workouts or yoga for weight loss, then all weight loss exercises suggests drinking lots of water. That is because water boosts up fat burning process in your body. If you don’t drink enough water then the fat burning process will slow down and you may not get desired results from your exercise or yoga. So rule number four is to drink enough water when you are doing yoga or exercise for weight loss.

The other way around, If you drink less water then it will make you dehydrated, which will result in tiredness which will lower your stamina for workouts and other physical activities. We usually eat fiber as weight loss diet, but very few of us know that eating fiber without drinking enough water will not make any benefit in terms of weight loss but instead it will cause constipation.
